How you can Make North Karnataka Type Girmit

Elements Wanted 

Puffed rice (pori) – 1 massive bowl
Small Gooseberry sized tamarind
Onion  1 finely chopped
Inexperienced Chillies – 2-3 finely chopped
Turmeric powder – 1/2 tsp
Jaggery Powder – 1 tsp
Salt wanted
Roasted Gram Dal Powder/fried gram  (pottukadalai) – 1/2 cup
Tamarind extract -1 cup
Curry Leaves

For the seasoning 

Mustard seeds – 1 tsp
Cumin seeds – 1 tsp
Hing  – a beneficiant pinch

Preparations

Soak small marble sized tamarind in a cup of sizzling water for 30 minutes. Extract 1 cup of  tamarind juice and discard the pulp.

Technique

Warmth 3 tbsp of oil, add mustard seeds, cumin seeds, asafoetida , inexperienced chillies and curry leaves.

As soon as mustard seeds splutter, add finely chopped onions.

Saute till onions flip golden brown.

Add salt, turmeric powder and jaggery powder.

As soon as onion turns golden brown, add tamarind extract.

Cook dinner till the combination thickens.

Add a tsp of roasted gram dal powder and blend nicely.

As soon as it thickens, flip off warmth. Let it cool. This combination might be saved within the fridge for per week.
